MicMinder
The right microphone, at the right volume — kept that way.
The problem
Plug in a display, join a call, launch an app — and your Mac quietly switches to the wrong microphone, or a meeting app nudges the input volume. You find out three sentences in, when someone finally says "you sound far away."
How MicMinder works
You rank your microphones once and set the input volume you want. MicMinder keeps the highest-priority connected microphone selected at that target volume, and makes changes visible — including changes made by other applications — so you never keep talking through the wrong device.
- Priority-ordered microphone selection: your best available mic wins.
- Target volume enforcement, so other apps cannot silently change your level.
- Visible input-device and volume changes as they happen.
- Predictable audio when devices connect and disconnect.
Privacy by design
Your device names and identifiers, microphone priority, selected microphone, target volume, and configuration are stored locally on your Mac. MicMinder does not transmit or store audio as part of the product behavior described here.
Diagnostics, crash reporting, and licensing behavior will be documented precisely before the product launches; we make specific claims rather than blanket ones.
Availability
MicMinder is in beta and expected to become available in August 2026 — an expectation during beta testing, not a guaranteed date. Pricing will be announced.
